.....[contd from home] No Chickens in the bus derives its name from Zimbabwean buses popularly known as “Chicken buses”. It is in these buses that people meet and chat about social issues To the contrary people are reserved in public transport and would rather read a newspaper than speak to the next person or a stranger. As such the band is about having fun and cuts across colour and creed. It is made up of seven seasoned Austrian musicians and 12 artists from Iyasa. It’s intercultural. Austria based Insingizi's Ramadu, Vusa and Nqobizitha, also rose up to the occasion as they joined IYASA in a joint performance on stage. Plans are underway to do the band performance in Zimbabwe soon, a band member said. “I am eager to do it in Zimbabwe. Time is ripe but we have equipment limitations back home among other things. I do not like half-baked projects.

I will certainly do my best to ensure that this band showcases on home soil soon. “At the moment we play songs that I write and other songs written by the band members. We also do world popular tracks most of which encourage peace, love and some are just songs for joy and dance. We are happy people,” added Dube. Meanwhile in the coming week IYASA will premiere their production African Marchen (African Stories) for the year 2008 at one of Vienna 's popular theatres, The Dscungel Wien. It will run for more than two weeks. “I will also leave Austria to attend the ASSITEJ 16th World Congress and Performing Arts Festival For Young People to be held in Adelaide, Australia in as from 9 May to 18 May. “ASSITEJ is a worldwide organisation for art by and for young people and I am proud that Zimbabwe will be represented and heard at this grand stage. The Zimbabwe edition of Assitej is called ZATCYP and will hopefully be represented too", added Dube. There goes the morning star !!! [BACK TO HOME]
